SMiMag firearms expert Matt Canovi range tested the Smith and Wesson M&P9 professional duty range kit. The firearm was cleaned and tested out of the box. We ran 50 rounds, Winchester White Box, multiple target point shooting at 10 feet from target. 1 shot, right to left, center chest on each target and 1 head shot – left to right. The three target, six shot, shoot times were relative at 0.9 to 1.2 seconds seconds. There were no hang ups or malfunctions of any kind.
Matt also check the trigger reset and trigger pull as some have stated the trigger was muddy or mushy. That was not the case as we compared the M&P against a Springfield Armory XDM and an H&K.

Matt stated “a good quality firearm has a short trigger reset. You don’t have to let your finger go all the way to the front to reset the trigger.” The M&P does have a short pull – subtle ( The reset is not as loud the H&K but you can feel a crisp trigger reset for quick multiple shots.
The firearm was then tested at 21 feet for precision shooting. 6 head shots rounds were fired producing a circular grouping with a 2.5 inch circle diameter to test the MP9 control and recoil. The 9mm was flawless. See the attached test video of the test.
Final Opinion – the M&P9 Range Kit is easy to shoot and a great buy.
